The St. Joseph Mustangs won a pitchers’ duel tonight at Phil Welch Stadium. The Mustangs defeated the Sedalia Bombers 1-0.
In front of a Mustangs’ record 4,427 fans, Ryker Fox remains undefeated. Fox improves to 5-0 on the season.
The lefty went 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball in the victory allowing only three hits, walking four while striking out three. He improves his remarkable ERA to 0.27 in the victory.
Grant Gavin came in relief of Fox going 1 1/3 innings allowing one hit and striking out one. Jon Pomatto finished the eighth and Brett Ash struck out two in the ninth to record his ninth save of the season.
St. Joseph scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and nobody, Brandon Huske grounded into a 4-6-3 double play, but the play scored Joe Koerper from third.
The Mustangs improve to 17-6 overall on the season and the Bombers fall to 12-6.
St. Joseph travels to Clarinda tomorrow to take on the A’s. First pitch is scheduled for seven o’clock.
