The St. Joseph Mustangs’ offense exploded for eleven runs Saturday night. The Mustangs defeated the Ozark Generals 11-0.
St. Joe’s offense erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Mustangs added runs in the fifth and sixth to make it 9-0. The Generals held the Mustangs scoreless in the seventh, but the Mustangs added two more runs in the eighth inning to make it 11-0. Joe Koerper led the Mustangs’ offense with three RBIs. The Mustangs walked ten times in the win.
Saturday night also marked the second start of the summer for Jake Jones. Last Friday night, Jones threw a no-hitter and Saturday night he pitched eight scoreless. Jones allowed only three hits and struck out nine in the win. Jon Pomatto finished the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
Jones picked up the victory and Tyler Huffstickler suffered the loss for the Generals. Huffstickler went 3 1/3 innings, allowed four runs and walked five.
The Mustangs hit the road tomorrow night as they take on the Nevada Griffons. First pitch is scheduled for seven o’clock.
