The St. Joseph Mustangs fell to the Clarinda A’s Thursday night. The A’s defeated the Mustangs 2-1.
The Mustangs scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Huske scored on a Joe Koerper ground out to give the Mustangs the lead. However, the Clarinda A’s pitching staff held St. Joseph scoreless the rest of the way.
The A’s scored both of their runs off of Mustangs’ starter Dixon Marble. Marble pitched seven innings allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out two. Mustangs’ pitchers Austin Aspegren and Trent Kinney combined to pitched two perfect innings, but the A’s hang on to win 2-1.
The Mustangs play the Branson Nationals tomorrow night at Phil Welch Stadium in a double header. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30.
