The St. Joseph Mustangs took both games in the doubleheader against the Ozark Generals Saturday night. The Mustangs defeated the Generals 2-0 in game one and 8-3 in game two.
In game one, Ryker Fox dealt a complete game shutout. Fox threw seven innings allowed just three hits, walked three, and struck out three. The lefty improved to 7-1 and lowered his ERA to 1.01 on the season.
The Mustangs offense gave Fox just enough run support with one in the first and one in the second. Joe Koerper hit a RBI single in the first that scored Brandon Huske and Francisco Alvarez scored on a RBI double by Josh Cassidy in the second.
In game two, the bats came alive for the Mustangs. The Mustangs scored in every inning, but the second inning. Kyle Richards finished the game with two hits, a walk, three runs, and two RBIs. Trent Hill went two for four with two RBIs and four Mustangs finished with a RBI.
Blake Kolons went five innings for the Mustangs to get the win. He allowed six hits, three runs, walked one, and struck out three. Austin Aspegren struck out the side in the sixth and Redmond Floyd pitched a scoreless seventh to give the Mustangs the victory.
St. Joseph travels to Omaha tomorrow to take on the Diamond Spirit. First pitch is scheduled for five o’clock.
