Mustangs roll again at home

06/30/2017 9:12 PM -

An immediate charge helped launch the Mustangs to a 10-1 victory over the Regal Plastics.

The offensive ways started in the bottom of the first  as the Plastics walked Brody Santilli with no outs. Santilli advanced to second on a Joshua Lincoln putout, just before he stole to third with Brady Anderson at bat.

The Plastics hit Colton Pogue, before he stole base with Josh Williams at bat. Williams singled shortly after, scoring Santilli and Pogue.

Williams found home with the help of a single by Derek Hussey, giving the Mustangs a 3-0 lead just before the inning came to an end.

Williams finished the day with two hits, one run and three rbis. Lincoln and Anderson stood behind in RBIs, with two each.

A new Plastic entered the game in the bottom of the third. Easton Fortuna was the first to find a hit against the pitcher singling. Fortuna stole to second, before Regal walked Kaleb Reed.

Santilli advanced to first following a fielder's choice, advancing to Fortuna just before out number two was recorded on a putout.

Santilli stole second, before Fortuna scored on a balk with Lincoln at bat. A put out ended the inning with a 4-0 Mustang lead.

The hot start continued in the third as Pogue doubled, advancing to third on an error. He crossed home plate with one out with the help of a Williams double. A putout recorded out number two, before Dillon was caught stealing to end the inning.

Starting pitcher Jake VanVacter supported the offensive streak, striking out 10 on five hits. His only run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning

The Mustangs ran away with the game in the bottom of the sixth as Hussey and Dillon found base on back to back walks. Fortuna advanced to first on a fielder's choice, and stole to second with Reed at bat. Reed advanced to second, before a putout recorded the second out of the inning.

Michael Foley subbed for Brody Santilli at bat, before being hit by first. A single by Lincoln brought in Fortuna followed by Reed. With  Anderson at bat, Lincoln and Foley coordinated a steel advancing to second and third. An Anderson single scored the two soon after, giving the Mustangs a 9-1 lead.

A single by Reed in the bottom of the seventh scored Dillon for the final Mustang run of the game.

The Mustangs continue their homestand tomorrow against the Ban Johnson All-Stars. Matt Diaz (0-1, 5.6 ERA) takes mound for the Mustangs in his third start of the year.

A Despicable Me Minion will appear at the game, with photo opportunities available. Mosaic Life fireworks will be presented following the game.
