Mustangs Take Over for United Way McDonald’s Day

The Mustangs were busy trading in their jerseys for aprons today at the United Way McDonald’s Day.

Many players stepped behind the counter and served up meals at two St. Joe McDonald’s locations to give back to their community and help support United Way in its 2025 Annual Campaign.

“Today's event with the Mustangs is about raising funds to support our Annual Campaign,” said Renica Neville, United Way campaign director.

During the event, a portion of the proceeds raised went directly to the Annual Campaign.

“The money raised during our Annual Campaign supports a lot of different things across our community. It’s used to support the United Way, but also the work of our partner agencies, who do a lot of different things, from helping individuals with disabilities to mentorships to quality childcare, to so many other things,” Neville said.

The Mustangs recognize the importance of giving back to the community that supports them throughout their season.

“A lot of the community gives their time to us when we play, and they come to our games. And I believe that it's only right that we do right by them as well by spending time,” said Parker Griffith, Mustangs catcher.

This event won’t be the only time the two organizations partner together. The Mustangs and United Way partnership in St. Joe goes deeper than just fundraising events. Other partnership elements include United Way volunteer recognition every Friday night home game and the United Way Extra Base Club.

“All the ways we partner with the Mustangs are really cherished by us, and we just love how the Mustangs bring the fun to baseball here in St. Joe,” Neville said. “When we work to bring attention to needs and show how to meet those needs, we are just more effective and more efficient in doing so together.”
