Coming home winners!

The St Joe Mustangs had a rematch with the Chillicothe Mudcats today, and after a few close games, the Mustangs left Chillicothe with a zero-doubt win heading back home.

The Mustangs' last game against the Mudcats ended in a 6-3 victory at Phil Welsh. On this road trip, however, the Mustangs wanted to show Chillicothe why they are regarded champions in the M.I.N.K League.

The scoring started early: The Mustangs scored two runs after Frank Gall scored, and Ike Book hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Kyle Hepburn, leading 2-0 in the first.

The Mudcats rallied in the third, had a sacrifice fly of their own, and made the score 2-1 at the bottom of the third.

The Mustangs ended the sudden offense by shutting down the Mudcats for the rest of the game while galvanizing their own.

This was thanks to pitchers Aron Harrington, Bronco Witt, Michael Infranca, and Camden Lutz. These pitchers combined for eleven strikeouts over nine innings, with Witt, who pitched three innings, earning six strikeouts.

The runs came pouring in at the top of the fifth inning, and three runs were scored. Jeter Mauzey hit a sacrifice fly, which drove in Logan Miller. Book singled, driving in Gall. Hepburn scored as Jorden Black was thrown out at first, advancing the Mustangs' lead to 5-1.

The top of the sixth has three more runs scoring. Truman Bodenhaus's single drives in Carson Schmidt. Bodenhaus scores on an error as Gall moves to second, steals third, and scores after Mauzey hits another sacrifice fly, making the score 8-1.

Only two runs were scored in the top of the seventh after Bodenhaus singled, leading Schmidt home and Bodenhaus stealing home, garnering a nine-point lead of 10-1.

Bodenhaus would reappear in the ninth, hitting a sacrifice fly that scored Black. Lutz would close the game out, going 1-2-3, leaving your St Joe Mustangs with their fifth win, 11-1.

The Mustangs will return to Phil Welsh tomorrow for a game against the Clarinda A's. The first pitch will be at 7:00 p.m., as well as a flash sale for general admission tickets, which are on sale now for $3.
