Mustangs fall in game one

The St Joe Mustangs lost the first game of the MINK League Championships to the Clarinda A's 7-10.


The A's struck Roy Holcomb early in the first inning with an RBI double to lead 0-1.


The Mustangs would respond with three runs in the second inning with a two-RBI double by Mason Holton and an RBI single by Jordan Black for a 3-1 lead.


The A's tied the game in the bottom of the second after a fielder's choice and an error by Holton. The A's took the lead on an RBI single and a sacrifice groundout to lead 3-5 in the fourth.


Black scored a run for the Mustangs on a passed ball in the fifth to make the score 4-5.


Andrew Clark pitched in the sixth, where the A's singled to Trevor McCollum for two runs to score for a 4-7 A's lead.


Tim Teixeira took the mound in the seventh, where three runs were scored off a fielder's choice and 2 RBI double for a 4-10


The Mustangs scored two in the eighth inning after McCollum and Easton Bruce walked in runs to trail 6-10.


In the ninth, Jeter Mauzey hit a sacrifice fly to score Frank Gall for the Mustang's last run of the 7-10 loss.


The Mustangs will play the A's tomorrow at Phil Welch Stadium in game 2 of the Championship Series. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the game starts at 7:00 p.m.
