St. Joseph, Mo. (July 17, 2021) - The Mustangs couldn’t hold onto a one-run lead against Sedalia on Saturday. The Mustangs would fall by a final score of 2-1.
The Mustangs scored the first run of the game in the second inning, but couldn’t maintain their lead.
The Bombers scored two unanswered runs: one in the fourth and another in the sixth inning. Mustangs starting pitcher Jay Greco pitched seven innings, only allowing two runs on two hits, yet walking three on Saturday.
The Mustangs were able to get two runners aboard in the ninth inning, but could not complete the comeback or tie it to send the game to extra innings.
Another big crowd formed at Phil Welch Stadium on Saturday as the Mustangs hope to secure home-field advantage for the MINK League Playoffs that are quickly approaching,
The Mustangs currently sit at second in the MINK League North Division and want to secure home-field advantage for the Wild Card Game.
The Mustangs game against the Nevada Griffons at home has been canceled due to a positive COVID-19 case in the Griffons organization. The Mustangs will return home on Wednesday for “We Love St. Joe” Night! All General Admission tickets are free to the public.
