Mustangs Maul Bombers

The St Joe Mustangs have regained their moxie after their two losses to the Carrol Merchants, winning four of their last six games.


In today's game, the Mustangs faced the Sedalia Bombers in a rematch from Saturday, which ended in a close 2-1 Mustangs win.


The Historic Liberty Park Stadium game started with a bang in the first inning, as Kyle Hepburn blasted a two-run home run, scoring himself and Darius Freeman, who started the game with a single. The Mustangs lead in the first 1-0


A pitch hit Carson Schmidt in the second inning, then stole second and third. After Schmidt was on third, Freeman hit another single to score Schmidt to advance the lead 2-0.


Carson Schrack singled to left in the third inning, and Mason Holton's walk put runners on first and second. Kyle Hepburn reached on a fielder's choice. Jayden Little's single knocked in Holton, extending the Mustangs' lead to 3-0.


The Bombers responded in the fifth and eighth innings with a single and a sacrifice fly, making the score 4-2.


The Mustangs capped the game off with Little's next single, scoring Schrack in the ninth inning, making the score 5-2.


In the ninth inning, Michael Infranca took the mound and faced four batters after ending the game on a strikeout looking. The Mustangs are currently 16-2 in conference play.


The Mustangs are on the last leg of their road series, as they will face the Jefferson City Renegades tomorrow at Vivion Field at 7:00 p.m.
