The St Joe Mustangs traveled to Warren County today to face off against the Warren County Crop Dusters at Fareway Fields. The Mustangs beat the Crop Dusters in the last two games, 15-1 and 7-1.
The Mustangs look to tackle one more victory against the Crop Dusters today.
In the first inning, right fielder Frank Gall reaches first on an error by Crop Duster shortstop Eli Elsbecker. Gall stole second and third base to be brought home by center fielder Darius Freeman, who singled to send Gall home to lead 1-0.
Freeman advanced to second and stole third, then was brought home by first baseman Jeter Mauzey after a wild pitch let him get to first, extending the Mustangs' lead to 2-0.
After shortstop Carson Schrack walked and Catcher Dom Felix reached on an error to load the bases for left fielder Easton Bruce, who walked to score Jeter Mauzey to extend the Mustang's lead
3-0.
Starting pitcher Trenton Roehler steps on the mound for the bottom of the first and strikes out the Crop Duster batters one-two-three.
In the second inning, second baseman Truman Bodenhaus reached on an error by Elsbecker, and Gall walked to put runners on first and second. Bodenhaus and Gall advanced after Freeman grounded out. Mauzey singled to score Bodenhaus and Gall and extend the Mustangs' lead to 5-0.
Roehler returned for the bottom of the second, giving up one hit, recording a strikeout, and gave up no runs.
In the third, Bruce and designated hitter Jackson Glueck singled to put runners on first and second. Bodenhaus reached first on another error by Elsbecker; Bruce scored to extend the Mustangs lead to 6-0.
In the bottom of the third, Roehler returned to record two more strikeouts and no runs. In the fourth inning,
Roehler had two outs, and the bases loaded after walks and a single. Roehler got out of the inning with a strikeout.
Roehler had an easy fifth inning where he recorded another strikeout after taking down the Crop Dusters 1-2-3.
In the sixth inning, relief pitcher Diego De Santiago took down the Crop Dusters 1-2-3 while recording two strikeouts.
De Santiago came into the seventh inning and loaded the bases. After walking, Crop Duster left fielder Diego Morales and a double by Crop Duster designated hitter Cade Grevengoed, the Crop Dusters trailed the Mustangs 6-3.
In the eighth inning, third baseman Mason Holton walked, and Mauzey reached first on an error. Schrack's ground-out advanced Holton and Mauzey to second and third. Felix doubled to score Mauzey and Holton, extending the Mustangs' lead to 8-3.
De Santiago gave up two singles in the bottom of the eighth and gave up no runs after a 6-4-3 double play.
The Mustangs scored two more runs after a Freeman single scored Gall and a Mauzey single scored Holton to increase their lead to 10-3.
Jackson Glueck became the closing pitcher in the ninth inning after taking the Crop Dusters down 1-2-3, winning the game for the Mustangs 10-3.
The Mustangs return home to Phil Welch to play the Nevada Griffons at 7:00 p.m.
