St. Joseph Mustangs beat Ban Johnson Raiders 7-3

St. Joseph, Mo. (June 17, 2021) - The Mustangs overcame a back and forth battle against the Ban Johnson Raiders thanks to a three-run seventh inning and a great effort by pitcher Micah Diamond.

Diamond was awarded Player of the Game for his solid performance on the mound in seven innings.

“I go up there to have fun- to throw,” Diamond said. “All glory to God.”

Despite the heat advisory, over 1,000 fans came out to experience Sandlot Night at Phil Welch Stadium. Guests were given the opportunity to star in their own baseball cards and had plenty of options when it came to beating the heat. There was a mist tent, snow cones, and even a St. Joseph Fire Department engine spraying water for those who wanted to cool down.

The Mustangs will stay home this weekend.

Friday, June 18 there will be 80s music blasting throughout Phil Welch, celebrating the decade. It is also $1 beer night. The Mustangs will face the Des Moines Prospects for the third time this season.

Saturday, June 19 is Space Jam Night. Kids get to play on the field for an hour before the game. Kids jerseys will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to NWMO Dream Factory. There will also be a poster giveaway to the first 100 guests. The Mustangs will face North Kansas City for an out-of-conference matchup.
