After shutting out the Griffons yesterday, the St Joe Mustangs took the night off and let St Joe's secret weapon, the St Joe Tenderloins, face the Sedalia Bombers in a duel of the fates for Star Wars Night.
The Tenderloins return after their victory over the Chillicothe Mudcats in week one of MINK Leauge baseball to face the Bombers in a contest with great pitching and an outstanding ending.
The Tenderloins started just as the Mustangs did, with an early lead in the first. Darius Freeman's double led to Kyle Hepburn's single, scoring Freeman for an early Tenderloin lead of 1-0.
The Bombers couldn't score until the seventh innings when the Tenderloin's pitching staff struck out ten Bombers in five innings. Denton Biller, who went five innings before being replaced by Michael Infranca, tallied those ten strikeouts.
The game was tied in the seventh, as the Bombers loaded the bases and hit a hard grounder to score a Bomber, tying the game at 1-1.
The game was brought to the tenth inning as Logan Miller's walk would put him on third thanks to Carson Schmidt's groundout and Miller stealing third.
The game would close as Truman Bodenhaus hit a chopped grounder close to the pitcher, who couldn't catch the speedy Miller, letting the Tenderloins keep the undefeated 2-0 record in a walk-off win in the tenth in a 2-1 victory.
Your Tenderloins player of the game is Truman Bodenhaus, who earned it after his clutch hit for the walkoff win.
The Tenderloins dedicate this win to the Mustangs, who will put it on their record.
The Mustangs will return home on Thursday. Before Thursday, they will start a road trip, starting tomorrow with the Nevada Griffons, whom they will play at Lyons Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
