St. Joseph Mustangs Extend Reading Program Deadline, Encourage Reading During Extended Break

The St. Joseph Mustangs Reading Program is a free program for area elementary schools to encourage and reward students for reading. The Mustangs have extended the deadline to Wednesday, April 15th, 2020. Previously, the deadline was March 24th, 2020.

This free program is designed to encourage area elementary students to read a minimum of ten grade level books, and receive prizes from the Mustangs and area businesses.

"Typically, students participate through their teachers and schools. However, with the extended break, we want to allow students and families to participate individually. However, we want to encourage students to continue to read while they're away from school with the extended breaks we are experiencing. Parents can print off the forms, have their children fill them out as they read, and turn them in directly to the Mustang. Parents can also fill out the forms online. They'll earn a free ticket to Mustangs Opening Day, on May 27th, for every ten books they read, in addition to a prize package from some of our great community partners," said Ky Turner, Mustangs General Manager.

Turner also noted, "We are encouraging teachers to turn any forms they may have at their convenience, so we can have those prizes ready in a timely manner once students return to school. However, we will accept those forms as teachers receive them through the end of the school year. We appreciate all school staff, students, and parents as we work together during this time."

Parents may download student forms as well as fill out information online at https://www.stjoemustangs.com/reading-program. For additional information, please contact Mustangs GM Ky Turner at kyturner@stjoemustangs.com.
